Food Blogger Happy Hour, March 3 at Vinoteca

Happy Hour Flyer March 3

Happy Hour time!

It’s that time again! Yes, food blogger happy hour time – next Wednesday, March 3 at 6:00 pm. And I’m super excited that it’s at Vinotecta (1940 11th St. NW)  one of my favorite happy hours in the District. I actually had my birthday party there this summer – and they gained my undying affection by throwing in a free bottle of Prosecco (yes, my undying affection is easily bought).

Also, DC Food Bloggers now have a Facebook Fan Page so we can have a virtual hang out space for the community. Are you a fan?

RSVP for the happy hour on the Facebook Page, so we can get a headcount.

And many thanks to the planning committee, who keep these things running:

If you’re interested in helping plan, email me or leave a comment, and I’ll add you to the list.

It’s that time again! Mark your calendars for the next food blogger happy hour, Wednesday, December 2 at 6:00 pm. This time we’re meeting at Churchkey, the very cool new beer-centric bar on 14th street. Don’t like beer? I talked with their pastry chef Tiffany MacIssac recently, and there’s lots to enjoy on the dessert menu too.

If you’re planning on attending, please leave a comment on Orr’s post over at Young and Hungry so we can get a headcount. And many thanks to our planning committee for putting this together –We Love DC, Capital SpiceDining in DCGradually Greener, Capital Cooking, and Orr from Young and Hungry.

Reminder: Food Blogger Happy Hour Tomorrow! 6pm at The Black Squirrel

Nov food blogger happy hour

Out of the internet, into the bar.

Beer. Bar food. Food Bloggers. Adams Morgan. It sounds like a recipe for a fabulous evening, no?

If you think so then you should definitely come out to the third monthly food blogger happy hour this Wednesday at 6:00. We’ll be at The Black Squirrel, which has an excellent beer list, laid-back vibe and, although I haven’t sampled it, good bar food too. Look for us on the second floor.

If you’re planning on attending, please leave a comment here, or on any of the “planning committee’s” blogs: The Arugula Files, Gradually Greener, Capital Spice, Capital Cooking, and the Beer Spotter.

November Food Blogger Happy Hour: Nov. 4, 6:00 pm at the Black Squirrel

Nov food blogger happy hour

Will you be there?

Next month, the Food Blogger Happy Hour moves even closer to my house – we’ll be meeting at The Black Squirrel in Adams Morgan, up on the second floor. I recently visited this beer-centric bar for the first time a couple weeks ago with Nonnka, and was really impressed with the place. The place has a great beer menu (as far as I can tell about such things) and a really nice laid-back vibe – which, believe me, is really hard to find in Adams Morgan.

Many thanks to The Arugula Files, Gradually Greener, Beerspotter, Capital Spice, and Capital Cooking for help plan. Please leave a comment on one of our blogs, so we can get a headcount!

Blogtoberfest Planning (And Drinking) Meeting – Sept. 30 at Axis

blogtoberfest

Beer and blogs - what could be better?

Do you have a blog? Do you like beer? Think you can write about beer? Then help the Young and Hungry Beerspotter make October Blogtoberfest.

The idea is that DC bloggers (foodie and otherwise) will write beer-themed posts during the month of October, link to them on the Blogtoberfest Facebook Group, and make the internet into one, big, beer filled blog party. You don’t have to be a beer expert – just share your personal stories about beer.

Fellow bloggers will be having a low-key blogtoberfest planning meeting next Wednesday, September 30, at Axis Bar and Grill, to kick around ideas and drink some good beer. If you can’t make that, then definitely check out the Facebook group for ideas and updates. Oh, and don’t miss the blogtoberfest-themed October Food Blogger Happy Hour on Wednesday, Oct. 6 at Commonwealth.

I don’t think I’ll be attending the planning meeting because my family will be in town (and, believe me, when your family descends on DC from Austin AND Oregon, it’s a big deal), but I encourage all DC food bloggers and non-food bloggers to show up. Drink a beer for me.

Highlights from The Food Blogger Happy Hour

Folks, I had so much fun at the DC Food Blogger Happy Hour. And no, I am not just saying that. Usually I have a hard time getting over my shyness at networking happy hour things where I don’t know anyone, but everyone there was so easy to talk to, so welcoming, and so into food, that I calmed my nerves (the wine helped). There are whisperings that this should become a regular monthly event, and I couldn’t agree more. Here’s to getting out from behind the laptop screen and into the bar!

Top highlight: Meeting Amelia (Gradually Greener) and Mary (The Arugula Files) in person. They were lovely, fun, and very sweet. Hands down, top moment of the night.

Other highlights:

  • Getting to wax poetic about the Seattle craft beer scene with Orr, one of the Young and Hungry lager heads.

I know I met more people – if I forgot to name you, please forgive me for my space cadet tendencies and general awfulness with names. It was so much fun.

Also, I realized that I really need to get business cards with my name and email address on them. Next month!
