Are you a food blogger? A reader? A lurker? Thinking about starting a food blog? Then you should come out for the next food blogger happy hour on April 7th. We’ll be heading to Art and Soul on Capitol Hill (415 New Jersey Avenue NW). Come meet, mingle, and chat with fellow food bloggers. I can attest that it’s a very nice, welcoming group of people – so please don’t be shy!

Yes, this is my final reminder – the food and sports blogger March Madness happy hour is Tuesday night (3/16)! Come drink with us from 6-9 pm at Clyde’s of Gallery Place. Just a note – we’ve been moved from the sports room to the oyster bar, but don’t worry. There will still be happy hour-ing. Fellow food and sports bloggers, readers, lurkers, sports fans, food fans, and friends all welcome.

Food bloggers. Sports bloggers. Coming together for a common cause: happy hour.

Yes, we just had a food blogger happy hour yesterday – but did you know that there’s another chance to get together with your favorite bloggers this month?

Join DC’s Food Bloggers and DC Sports Bloggers for a March Madness happy hour on Tuesday, March 16 from 6-9 pm at Clyde’s of Gallery Place in the Sports Room (most easily accessed from the Clyde’s theater entrance). Come meet, drink, and mingle with your favorite food and sports bloggers.

Now, I’m especially interested in this event because I actually don’t follow any sports – so I’m wondering how, exactly, I will be able to make conversation with sports bloggers. I’m thinking that I’ll do a little thinking about the best food to eat at sporting events (beer, pretzels) – hopefully that will be our common ground.

Please spread the word to your friends and help us celebrate the opening day of March Madness! Or just come out for the food, beer, and the company.

Happy Hour Flyer March 3

Happy Hour time!

It’s that time again! Yes, food blogger happy hour time – next Wednesday, March 3 at 6:00 pm. And I’m super excited that it’s at Vinotecta (1940 11th St. NW)  one of my favorite happy hours in the District. I actually had my birthday party there this summer – and they gained my undying affection by throwing in a free bottle of Prosecco (yes, my undying affection is easily bought).

Also, DC Food Bloggers now have a Facebook Fan Page so we can have a virtual hang out space for the community. Are you a fan?

Save the Date – Next Food Blogger Happy Hour Feb. 3, 2010 at Againn

Out of the laptop and into the bar.

Were you drooling over pastry chef Genevieve So’s sticky toffee pudding? Well you’ll have a chance to try it – and her other delicious creations – at the next Food Blogger Happy Hour on Wednesday, February 3 at Againn.

The happy hour menu at Againn, DC’s newest gastropub, looks pretty awesome – they have $5 drink and food specials until 7:00 pm. The “coup d’etat” martini, with pineau des cherentes, cava, lemon, and cinnamon is calling my name, as is the house-made pretzel with sea salt and mustard. Come to meet, mingle and share recipe tips with your fellow food bloggers. This is a lovely and welcoming group of people – if you haven’t come to one before then please stop by. We’re very nice.

Don’t Forget! Food Blogger Potluck Tonight!

Don’t forget the food blogger potluck tonight! After much decision and a couple of frosting failures, I made chocolate cupcakes and blue cheese and walnut crackers for tonight’s gathering. And if you want stop by but don’t have time to make a dish, never fear – a bottle of wine or other beverage would be greatly appreciated.

Mark your calendars!

Sometimes when the holidays are over, I feel a little let down. After Christmas and New Years, what else is there to look forward to?

Well, now there’s a bright spot on my January calender – a food blogger post-holiday potluck on Wednesday, January 6 at 6:30! Lauren at Capital Cooking has graciously offered up a room in her building for the shindig, and everyone will be bringing a dish or drink to share. With food bloggers doing the cooking or choosing the wine (or beer), I think this will have to be good.
