Weekly Roundup: Still Not on Daylight Savings Time Edition

So is anyone else still reeling from yesterday’s time change? Wonk the Plank and I woke up on Sunday and had no clue that we had lost an hour – he left for church at the regular time and missed the service. I didn’t figure it out until around 1:00, when I checked the computer clock and saw that something was up

Domestic news from around the internets:

  • The Washington Post Peeps Diorama contest is back! The contest is simple: make a diorama of an event or concept using peeps, the beloved Easter candy. I kind of want to enter, but I’m not sure what I would do, and the deadline is March 15. Has anyone entered the Peeps Diorama contest before? Any experiences you want to share?
  • The New York Times reports that Starbucks is unveiling yet another program to lure in customers in the recession: breakfast and coffee pairings for $3.95. It’s supposed to combat that familiar complaint – that Starbucks only sells $4 lattes. Well, I definitely like this more than their new instant coffee.
  • As Wonk knows, I love eggs – I could eat them morning, noon, and night. The Kitchn has a great roundup of 10 things to do with eggs. The one I want to try the most? Eggs on pizza.
  • Okay, so what’s up with all these food competitions? First The Washington Post is bringing back Beer Madness, their epic beer competition, and the Best Bites blog is having their Burger Brackets contest (apparently, Five Guys is waaay more popular than Fudruckers. Go figure). Did the Washington Post Cupcake Wars inspire food sections to adopt more competition formats, or something?
  • I’m obsessed with Eric Asimov’s wine column for the New York Times. Last week he wrote about the resurgence of California chardonnay, which is finding its way back to its roots after years of being too popular for its own good. Hmmm, their best value is only $15. That’s not too much for a Friday-night dinner wine, right Wonk? Right?

Do the Peeps diorama thing and post pics! I have confidence in your ability to make a truly awesome Peeps diorama.

Also, I am super excited about those Starbucks breakfast deals. I go there on my breakfast breaks sometimes since nothing else is open. Those sandwiches are DELICIOUS!

Awww, thank you! Well I have some free time on my hands, so that helps. What should it be of? I was thinking Top Chef but it may be too much like the Project Runway one from last year.

Dude, those Starbucks breakfast sandwiches are amazing. I had my first one last Friday and it was awesome.
